Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

The heart’s aortic valve narrows due to a build-up of fatty deposits in the valves. This causes the valve to not open fully and results in constriction of blood flow from the heart to the main artery and the rest of the body.

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention is done to clear these blockages. It is a combination of angioplasty and stenting. Here the blocked arteries are widened and blood flow is restored. In cases of acute heart attacks, PCI is used as an emergency treatment. It is considered an alternative to bypass surgery.

Our interventional cardiologists are highly experienced in handling the latest devices and techniques. PCIs even help in fixing multiple complex coronary artery blockages. The doctor makes a small incision in the wrist or groin region during PCI. Our doctor inserts a small catheter tube through an artery leading it to the heart. The doctor uses the heart's X-ray imaging to trace the blockage or narrowed region and opens up the vessel using the best PCI techniques.

A PCI takes around 1-3 hours, depending on the complexity of the cases. Our doctors are well-versed in the procedure involving PCI and make sure to execute the whole procedure without landing any risks whatsoever.
